Project announcements tell you where billions may be spent.

Contractors need to know something else:

Who controls the work?

Who has the construction contract?

Who is buying the electrical equipment?

Who is building the substations?

Who is installing the cooling?

And when those names aren't public yet:

Where should contractors be positioning now?

That's the focus of Issue #005.

CONTRACTOR BRIEF

Three projects this week show three different stages of the opportunity cycle.

At Goodnight in Texas, the contractor tree is already producing names.

At Delta Forge 2 in Alabama, a 210MW hyperscale project is advancing while major contractor and utility-infrastructure relationships remain worth watching.

And in Jayton, Texas, another $4.8 billion of Crusoe development has entered the pipeline.

Three stages.

One question:

WHERE IS THE MONEY MOVING NEXT?

LEAD #1

GOOGLE + CRUSOE — GOODNIGHT

Armstrong County, Texas

DCCR PRIORITY: HIGH

Google is the customer.

Crusoe is the developer.

But that's where most project announcements stop.

DCCR kept going.

Crusoe broke ground on the Goodnight campus in June 2025.

The campus connects directly with two adjacent wind projects:

Goodnight 1 — 265.5MW — Operational

Goodnight 2 — 265.5MW — Under Construction

Combined:

531MW

But the contractor story extends far beyond the wind projects.

PROENERGY
13 PE6000 turbine-generator packages

Goodnight is becoming much more than a data center construction project.

It is a:

DATA CENTER + GENERATION + SUBSTATION + ELECTRICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM.

THE POWER PACKAGE

DCCR research has identified an approximately 700MW active power-generation program developing alongside the campus.

PROENERGY has confirmed an order from Crusoe for 13 PE6000 turbine-generator packages, representing approximately 650MW of generating equipment.

Project-specific records also reference 7 Dynamis DT46 trailer-mounted turbine units.

DCCR has not yet located equivalent direct confirmation from Dynamis.

EVIDENCE STATUS: UNDER INVESTIGATION / HIGH CONFIDENCE

And an important distinction:

Google is confirmed as the Goodnight data center customer. DCCR has not established that Google has contracted for the natural-gas generation project itself.

WE'RE STILL CHASING

Gas supply / pipeline

SCR / emissions systems

Electrical balance-of-plant

WHO'S GETTING THE WORK?

GOODNIGHT

DPR Construction — major construction delivery

Southland Industries — mechanical / design-build

Rosendin — electrical

Black & Veatch / Overland — power-generation engineering / field-construction activity

PACK Power — substation EPC

PROENERGY — turbine-generator equipment

Dynamis — additional generation equipment indicated; direct confirmation still under investigation

Goodnight is exactly why DCCR follows contractor relationships—not just project announcements.

LEAD #2

APPLIED DIGITAL — DELTA FORGE 2

Brookwood, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama

DCCR PRIORITY: HIGH

If Goodnight shows where the money has already moved, Delta Forge 2 shows where important relationships remain worth watching.

PROJECT PROFILE

Investment: $3.2B+

Critical IT load: 210MW

Customer: investment-grade U.S. hyperscaler

Lease: approximately 15 years

Base contracted revenue: approximately $5.2B

Delivery target: first half of 2028

Applied Digital describes Delta Forge 2 as a single 210MW building under construction.

The full critical IT load is contracted.

Demand isn't the question.

EXECUTION IS.

DCCR POSITION

POSITION NOW

We're watching for major contractor, trade and Alabama Power infrastructure awards.

OPPORTUNITY OF THE WEEK

DELTA FORGE 2

Why Delta Forge 2?

Because DCCR wants to identify opportunities before every box in the contractor tree is filled.

The project has:

$3.2B+ of investment

210MW of contracted critical IT load

A long-term hyperscaler customer

Construction underway

But publicly, significant pieces of the construction and utility tree remain incomplete.

That doesn't mean those contracts haven't been awarded.

It means we don't yet have sufficient public evidence to responsibly put names in those boxes.

And that's exactly why we're watching.

LEAD #3

CRUSOE — PROJECT HYPER

Jayton, Texas

DCCR PRIORITY: HIGH

Another major Texas project entered the pipeline this week.

Crusoe has filed plans for two data center buildings in Jayton.

Building 1: approximately 759,260 sq. ft.

Building 2: approximately 759,260 sq. ft.

Combined: approximately 1.52 million sq. ft.

Estimated construction cost: $4.8B combined

Target construction start: January 2027

The filings identify the developments as Project Hyper spur buildings.

For contractors, January isn't far away.

DOE SPARK

Follow the Grid Money

DCCR PRIORITY: HIGH — POWER WATCH

Approximately $1.9B in federal funding is moving toward grid projects through DOE's SPARK program.

Combined with recipient investment, the projects represent roughly $5.25B.

DOE says the program could unlock more than 23GW of additional grid capacity.

For contractors, that means potential work in:

Transmission

Reconductor projects

Substations

Grid-enhancing technologies

Electrical equipment

Engineering

Controls

Commissioning

DCCR's job now is to turn the funding announcement into something more useful:

Named utilities. Named EPCs. Procurement dates. Vendor routes.

LEAD #7

FERVO — CAPE STATION

Beaver County, Utah

DCCR PRIORITY: MED-HIGH

Initial geothermal power is coming online at Cape Station while another 400MW advances through construction.

Google has contracted for a significant portion of future output.

LEAD #8

SAMSUNG + HELIX DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE

DCCR PRIORITY: MEDIUM

Samsung has committed $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure.

Helix has secured more than $10 billion in capital commitments.

Samsung also brings capabilities extending beyond capital into areas including construction, cooling and energy storage.

What we don't have yet is the piece DCCR really wants:

A NAMED U.S. CAMPUS.

Until then, this remains an upstream capital and procurement signal.

DCCR TAKE

THE CONTRACTOR WINDOW OPENS BEFORE THE CRANES ARRIVE

Waiting for a groundbreaking is increasingly too late.

The useful signals often appear earlier:

Land acquisition

Large-load utility agreements

Environmental permits

Owner construction hiring

GC RFPs

Equipment orders

Substation filings

Generation permits

Transmission upgrades

Long-lead procurement

Those signals tell you something the groundbreaking doesn't:

THE MONEY IS STARTING TO MOVE.

By the time the cranes appear, somebody may already have the contract.

WHY DCCR EXISTS

There are excellent publications covering data center growth.

DCCR asks a narrower question:

WHO GETS THE WORK?

And when those names aren't public yet:

WHO SHOULD CONTRACTORS BE WATCHING?

That's why we follow permits, utility filings, equipment orders, construction hiring and subcontractor relationships.

A billion-dollar announcement is interesting.

A billion-dollar project where you understand who controls the work is useful.
